How to choose the right size Hawkins Pressure Cooker

As a guide to choosing the correct size to suit your family, allow 1 litre per person. For example a family of 4 would find a 4 litre pressure cooker to be suitable for most recipes.


How to choose the right style Hawkins Pressure Cooker

Hawkins have several styles of Pressure Cookers available, with multiple sizes available in each style. Following is a brief description for each:

Stainless Steel - The body and lid are 100% stainless steel. Stainless steel stays bright, does not pit or corrode, is easy to clean and extremely hygienic. Can be used safely for light and deepfrying and pressure cooking. Suitable for gas, electric, ceramic, halogen and induction cooktops.

Classic - The Classic is Hawkins’ largest-selling, most popular range of pressure cooker. Made from Aluminium, it is suitable for gas, electric, ceramic and halogen cooktops.

Contura Hard Anodised - The Contura has a unique body with rounded sides for easier stirring, better visibility and easy removal of food. For difficult dishes which require a lot of stirring, the Contura is the ideal cooker. The Hard Anodised surface is non-toxic, non-staining and non-reactive with foods. It is thermal efficient, heats fast and evenly and is not spoiled by high heat. It is tough and durable, will not tarnish or corrode and will stay looking new for years. Recommended for use on gas stoves.

Futura Stainless Steel - The beautiful form and function of the Futura Pressure Cooker – executed in stainless steel. Stainless steel stays bright, does not pit or corrode, is easy to clean and extremely hygienic. The base stays flat, heats evenly and is ideal for light frying before pressure cooking. It can safely be used on all domestic gas, electric, halogen, ceramic and induction cooktops.

Big Boy - The Bigboy range has been specially designed to cook large quantities of food quickly and economically. It is most useful in restaurants, hotels, canteens in factories, hospitals, schools and colleges.

Hevibase - An aluminium pressure cooker with magnetic stainless steel attached to the double thick base so it can be safely used on all domestic gas, electric, halogen, ceramic and induction cooktops. The heavy gauge base is ideal for light frying before pressure cooking. The base will stay flat.

Ekobase - The ekobase has recently been updated and is now available as the Hevibase. Some original Hawkins Ekobase Pressure Cookers are still available. They have a fully hard anodised double thick base and are suitable for gas, electric, halogen and ceramic cooktops. The Ekobase is not suitable for Induction cooktops.
